Biography

Yeon Woo-jin (연우진), born Kim Bong-hee on July 5, 1984, in Gangneung, is a South Korean actor and former model. After studying civil and environmental engineering at Sejong University, he began his career as a model in 2007 before turning to acting. He made his film debut in the short film Just Friends? in 2009, and then adopted the stage name Yeon Woo-jin.

His television career really took off in the early 2010s. After Cinderella's Sister and All My Love, he lands a major role in Ojakgyo Brothers, in which he plays Hwang Tae-pil. In 2012, he gained further recognition thanks to the historical fantasy drama Arang and the Magistrate, in which he plays the mysterious Choi Joo-wal. He follows that up with the melodrama When a Man Falls in Love in 2013.

Yeon Woo-jin then established himself as a leading actor, particularly in romantic dramas. In 2014, he played Gong Ki-tae in Marriage, Not Dating, one of his most representative dramas. He continues with Divorce Lawyer in Lovethen Introverted Boss in 2017. That same year, he changed genres with the sageuk Queen for Seven Days, in which he plays Prince Yi Yeok, the future King Jungjong, before portraying a judge in Judge vs. Judge.

He then explores darker genres with Priest in 2018 and the musical thriller I Wanna Hear Your Song in 2019. After appearing in The Search and Undercover, and in 2022 he joined the cast of Thirty-Nine as dermatologist Kim Seon-woo.

In 2023, he played Dong Go-yoon in Daily Dose of Sunshine, a series centered on a psychiatric ward. In 2024, he took on two new leading roles in Let's Get Caught by the Neck and A Virtuous Business, in which he plays Inspector Kim Do-hyeon. In 2026, he continued his career with Honor, playing the role of Baek Tae-ju. On the big screen, he has appeared in, among others, The Princess and the Matchmaker and The Old Woman with the Knife.
