For Hong Seung-hee, the line between fiction and reality will completely disappear in « Oh My Guard ». After an accident, her character begins to believe she is the heroine of a drama starring Jung Yong-hwa. An unlikely plot that will eventually intrude on the star's life, as shown in the two new main posters for this romance expected in October.
«Oh My Guard» will reunite Jung Yong-hwa and Hong Seung-hee in a romance that directly plays with the conventions of K-dramas. Jung Yong-hwa plays Uhm Tae-bong, a huge Hallyu star who seems to have it all: good looks, talent, success, and self-confidence. Although he’s no stranger to romantic dramas, the actor has a rather surprising quirk for someone who’s made it his specialty: he refuses to film kissing scenes.
And that’s not his only secret. Tae-bong also hides a weakness he can’t reveal to anyone. His perfectly controlled life is about to be turned upside down by Oh Hae-ra’s arrival.
Hong Seung-hee isn't really sure where the drama ends anymore
Performed by Hong Seung-hee, Oh Hae-ra is a shy young woman who gets scared easily. But after an accident, something changes: she becomes convinced that she is Cha Hong-doo, the heroine of the drama starring Tae-bong.
Hong Seung-hee will thus have to switch between two radically different personalities. On the one hand, there’s Hae-ra with her timid nature; on the other, Hong-doo, who is much bolder and more fearless.
The new posters play on this very confusion. Tae-bong appears inside a television screen, while Hae-ra is in the real world. In one of the posters, she is even happily hugging the TV screen on which her favorite actor appears, surrounded by small details that highlight her status as a fan.
The phrase on the poster sums up the upheaval that awaits Tae-bong: «Her very strange(?) world has come to me.» For what at first seems like the strange beliefs of an admirer will soon become a very real problem for him.
Jung Yong-hwa will eventually enter his world
Hae-ra is convinced that she is Tae-bong’s female co-star in a TV drama. Tae-bong, on the other hand, obviously lives in a completely different reality. Yet their two worlds will gradually grow closer.
The mysterious young woman becomes the biggest variable in the star's life, eventually drawing Tae-bong into her world. Their initial misunderstandings will lead to numerous squabbles before their relationship begins to evolve.
The concept behind the posters then takes on a new meaning: at first, a screen clearly separates fiction from reality, but this boundary is expected to become less and less obvious as Hae-ra and Tae-bong grow closer.
«Oh My Guard» is co-directed by Yoon Jong-ho, who has worked on « Lovely Runner » and « A Bona Fide Killer », and Lee Seung-hoon, director of « Doctor Shin ".
The drama will start on October 24 at 10:50 p.m. (KST) on Lifetime and will be available on Viu in certain countries. No streaming platform has been announced in France at this time.
