«Empathy Cells» tells the story of 2 people who are at odds with each other. On the one hand, a woman who refuses all forms of empathy and prefers to keep her distance from others. On the other, a man who, on the contrary, feels the emotions of those around him particularly intensely.

Their lives are turned upside down when an inexplicable phenomenon leads them to share each other's emotions. This experience gradually leads them to understand each other better, to evolve and to question their vision of the world.

The drama revolves around a supernatural phenomenon that causes the two characters to feel each other’s emotions. Faced with something she doesn’t understand, Yoo Ji-an consults a doctor and confides, «Whenever I’m near a man, I feel like his emotions are being transmitted to me… It sounds strange, doesn’t it?»

Later, she finally confesses directly to Cha Eun-hwan: «I feel your emotions exactly as if they were my own. It’s as if we share the same heart.» This emotional connection, at the heart of the drama, could very well transform their relationship.
