Adapted from Alpha Tart’s famous web novel, the drama will blend romance, politics, and fantasy in an imperial world where a young ruler decides to take on multiple consorts in order to secure her power.
The drama The Men of the Harem takes place in the fictional world of the Tarim Empire, where Empress Latil, in order to retain her place on the throne, decides to create her own harem... composed exclusively of men. An intriguing role reversal that promises an intrigue rich in political tensions, amorous rivalries and courtly strategies.
Bae Suzy will play Latil, a young woman who is thrust onto the throne following her father's mysterious assassination.
Betrayed by the man she loved and facing numerous political threats, she must marry in order to preserve her authority over the Tarium Empire. However, instead of choosing a single husband, she makes an unexpected decision: to select five men from different backgrounds to become her royal consorts.
As the story unfolds, Latil will not only have to maintain balance within her harem, but also uncover the truth behind her father's murder.
The drama will be directed by Lee Eung-bok, known for several hit productions such as Sweet Home. The screenplay has been entrusted to Hwang Jin-young, who has previously worked on My Dearest.
The series is produced by Studio Dragon, a long-time partner of Netflix and one of the leading studios in the Korean industry.
