The story follows the transformation of a materialistic judge obsessed with success, who suddenly finds himself propelled into the pro bono department of a large law firm, with no income and no prestige.
Two visions of justice, a permanent clash
Kang David has been to the top: a famous judge, surrounded by cameras and adulation. Dismissed after a scandal, he is now parachuted into the firm's most ignored pro bono team, a department that earns nothing but demands everything. Opposite him, Park Ki-bbeum arrives with his notebook, his heart... and an intact faith in the law.
Where David thinks career, Ki-bbeum thinks victim. Where he wants to repair his image, she wants to repair lives. Naturally, their exchanges become heated, sometimes to the point of discomfort.
Facing him, Park Ki-bbeum, played by So Ju-yeon, appears with an almost touching intensity. The way she observes the scene, concentrated and sincere, reflects a genuine passion for pro bono work. She embodies the naive (but precious) belief that justice must remain accessible, even where no one wants to intervene.
On the contrary, Oh Jung-in, played by Lee Yoo-young, has an almost icy authority. As the firm's CEO, she exudes vertical assurance and an acute sense of performance. Her presence is imposing, and we sense that she tolerates neither weakness nor wasted time. Her charisma betrays a woman accustomed to leading, deciding and, above all, being followed.
Jang Young-sil, played by Yoon Na-moo, brings a singular energy to the ensemble. His slightly offbeat air, somewhere between genius and assumed eccentricity, hints at an intelligence that sees what others never notice. He seems to float on the border between legal logic and pure intuition, a bewildering but frighteningly effective combination.
Next to them, Yoo Nan-hee (Seo Hye-won) illuminates the poster with her boundless energy. Everything about her attitude points to a woman who moves forward without hesitation, driven by an inner strength that never runs out. Her almost impulsive dynamism sets the tone of a lawyer who prefers action to contemplation.
Finally, Hwang Joon-woo, played by Kang Hyung-suk, contrasts with her with a calm intensity. His concentrated gaze, his features taut with effort, portray a hard-working, disciplined man who relies more on consistency than natural talent. His almost overly diligent seriousness suggests a deep-seated determination to prove his worth.
All brought together under the phrase «Survival, justice, strategy, power, one courtroom, different motives ,» these six characters hint at a dynamic that is as explosive as it is captivating: a group gathered under one roof, yet with no certainty that they’re all heading in the same direction.
