According to the Korean media outlet Hankyung, Moon Ga-young declined the offer to join « Seorabeol Knife » (working title), the drama in which Cha Eun-woo is expected to make his return after completing his military service.

Just a few hours after the announcement that Moon Ga-young had turned down the role, Shin Ye-eun is reportedly being considered to play Princess Deokyeong. Having gained international recognition through «The Glory,» the actress could thus form a brand-new duo with Cha Eun-woo. Neither her agency nor the production company has yet commented on this report.
A decision made after reading the script
According to exclusive reports published on October 19, the actress took the time to review the project before turning it down for good. An outcome that contrasts with the excitement of September, when her agency had confirmed that it was reviewing the offer.
The reasons for her refusal were not disclosed. Moon Ga-young was set to play Princess Deokyeong, a Silla aristocrat of royal blood—a gourmet, refined, and ambitious woman who dreams of becoming the kingdom’s first queen.
The End of a Dream for «True Beauty» Fans»
This announcement puts an end to one of the most highly anticipated reunion projects of the moment. In 2020, «True Beauty» catapulted the duo onto the international stage, and the chemistry between Moon Ga-young and Cha Eun-woo became one of the series’ main draws.
The idea of reuniting with them seven years later, in a radically different world, was quite appealing. After their high school romance, they were set to cross paths in the heart of the Kingdom of Silla, in a time-travel story blending gastronomy and romance.
Cha Eun-woo is still expected to play the role of the chef
The project, meanwhile, is moving forward. «Seorabeol Knife» will tell the story of a contemporary Italian chef, nicknamed the «Temptation of the Mediterranean,» who is transported a thousand years into the past, to the era of Silla. There, he will meet a princess who is as demanding when it comes to food as she is ambitious.
Cha Eun-woo was offered the role of this Michelin-starred chef. Expected to be discharged from the military next January, the actor and member of ASTRO could make his big comeback with this drama, although his participation has not yet been officially confirmed.
The drama is directed by Jang Tae-yoo, who also directed «My Love from the Star» and, more recently, «Bon Appétit, Your Majesty.» It is scheduled to air in 2027.
Now the question is which actress will take on the role of Princess Deokyeong… and form a new duo with Cha Eun-woo.
