A series of murders committed on both sides of the sea, messages written in the victims' blood, and two investigators who seem to be complete opposites. Netflix unveils the first poster and a teaser for « The Blue Road ", the upcoming thriller from Han Joon-hee, director of «D.P.».

Son Suk-ku and Nagayama Eita play two police officers investigating cases in South Korea and Japan, respectively. But as their investigations eventually converge, the new footage suggests that their relationship could become much more complicated than simple international cooperation.

Murders Linked by Strange Messages in Korean and Japanese

Son Seok-koo plays Kim Seok, an investigator with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Mobile Investigation Unit. Nagayama Eita plays Inose, an inspector with the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s First Investigation Division. Two men with different personalities and approaches, but both faced with the same mystery.

The poster depicts each of them in an alleyway, somewhere between Korea and Japan, while enigmatic inscriptions in Korean and Japanese appear behind them.

At crime scenes, investigators discover victims whose limbs have been twisted, as well as messages written in their blood. These details gradually become clues that suggest the crimes observed in both countries may be the work of a single series of murders.

The teaser rapidly shifts between the investigations being conducted on either side of the border. Kim Seok physically pursues suspects, even going so far as to push his way through the crowd, while Inose seems to approach the case with much more explosive emotions. These two styles could either complement each other or cause tension when their paths eventually cross.

Son Suk-ku appears, covered in blood, at Nagayama Eita's feet

One image from the teaser raises a troubling question about the true nature of their relationship. Kim Seok appears covered in blood and collapsed, while Inose stands above him and watches him. This scene suggests that the two investigators aren’t simply going to become partners working quietly on the same case.

A third character may also hold part of the answer. Kim Shin-rok plays Lee Yoon-ok, a Zainichi Korean businesswoman living in Japan. The teaser also introduces a mysterious painting of a tiger, whose connection to the crimes has yet to be discovered.

How is Lee Yoon-ok connected to the two police officers? Why are murders with the same characteristics being committed in Korea and Japan? And most importantly, what will lead Kim Seok to end up covered in blood in front of Inose?

«The Blue Road» will first have its world premiere in the On Screen section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, taking place October 6–15. Han Jun-hee, Son Suk-ku, Nagayama Eita, and Kim Shin-rok are also scheduled to meet with the audience there.
