Jung Sung-il (Jeong Seong-il), born on February 3, 1980, in Daegu, is a South Korean actor. He initially had a long but relatively low-key career, particularly in theater, where he has performed regularly since the 2000s, while also appearing in film and television.
On the big screen, he has appeared notably in A Frozen Flower (2008), Rough Play (2013), The Con Artists (2014) and The Chase (2017). On television, he began to gain more attention in the late 2010s with Different Dreams and 9.9 Billion Women (2019), then Stranger 2 and Birthcare Center (2020). He continues with Times, Bad and Crazy and When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon in 2021.
His career took a major turn with The Glory (2022–2023), a series in which he plays Ha Do-young, Park Yeon-jin’s husband. This role brought him widespread international recognition and became one of the most memorable characters in his filmography.
He then returned to the movies in Uprising (2024), and then plays Cheon In-ho in Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy (2025). That same year, he played the lead role of Han Do in Unmasked (Unmasked) and joined Made in Korea as Cheon Seok-jung, head of the Presidential Security Service. He will reprise this role in the second season, scheduled for 2026. In 2027, he is also set to appear in B.I.B..
In his personal life, Jung Sung-il has been married since 2016 and is the father of a son born in 2017.
