Biography

Song Hye-kyo, born on November 22, 1981, in Daegu, is one of the most iconic South Korean actresses of her generation. She began her career at a very young age after winning the 1996 SunKyung Smart Model Contest, and went on to appear in several television productions.

His career took a major turn in 2000 with Autumn in My Heart, a melodrama that became one of the seminal works of the first wave of Korean television in Asia. She then cemented her status with All In in 2003, and especially Full House In 2004, a romance that became a K-drama classic and a massive international hit.

After several years spent primarily working in film, she is returning to the forefront of television with That Winter, the Wind Blows in 2013. In it, she plays Oh Young, a wealthy, blind heiress who finds herself confronted by a man posing as her brother.

In 2016, Descendants of the Sun marks a new high point in her career. In the role of Dr. Kang Mo-yeon, she starred in one of the biggest international phenomena in Korean drama of the 2010s. She then returned to romantic roles with Encounter in 2018, and then Now, We're Breaking Up in 2021.

However, his image has undergone a particularly notable transformation with The Glory in 2022–2023. In it, she plays Moon Dong-eun, a woman who methodically plans her revenge against her former tormentors. This dark and restrained role—a far cry from her classic romantic roles—markedly expanded her range and became one of her most famous performances. The series is now considered one of her major television works.

After the movie Dark Nuns In 2025, Song Hye-kyo makes a guest appearance in Genie, Make a Wish. In 2026, she returned, most notably as the headliner of Tantara, in which she plays Min-ja, reaffirming her status more than 25 years later Autumn in My Heart her place at the top of the list of K-drama actresses.
