Biography

Jin Goo (진구) is a South Korean actor born on July 20, 1980, in Seoul. He made his television debut in 2003 in All In, in which he plays the younger version of the character portrayed by Lee Byung-hun. He went on to appear in several films and TV series, which helped him build a solid reputation as an actor, often associated with intense or determined characters.

On the big screen, he has appeared notably in A Bittersweet Life, A Dirty Carnival, Epitaph and Truck. He gained true critical acclaim in 2009 with Mother by Bong Joon-ho. His portrayal of Jin-tae earned him several awards, including Best Supporting Actor at the Grand Bell Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards.

He went on to make films such as The Showdown, Moby Dick, 26 Years, The Target, The Admiral: Roaring Currents, It's So Good and Northern Limit Line. At the same time, he plays the lead role in Advertising Genius Lee Tae-baek in 2013.

His international popularity skyrocketed in 2016 thanks to Descendants of the Sun. In it, he plays Seo Dae-young, a special forces soldier whose relationship with Yoon Myung-joo becomes one of the most beloved aspects of the series. He then goes on to Night Light in 2016, and then Untouchable in 2017.

After spending a few more years focusing on film, Jin Goo returned to television with several leading roles. In 2019, he played Go Tae-rim in Legal High. In 2022, he went on to Superior Day, Veteran Detective and The King of the Desert. He briefly reprises his role as Kook Jin-han in Shadow Detective Season 2 in 2023.

Announcements

In 2024, he played Hwang Dae-ung in The Auditors. The following year, he played the lead role of Kim Han-cheol in The Moon Flows Over the River and appears in My Lovely Journey.

In 2026, Jin Goo continues with New Employee Chairman Kang, in which he plays Kang Jae-seong, and makes a cameo appearance in The Legend of Kitchen Soldier. With a career spanning more than 20 years, he remains an actor particularly well known for his roles in thrillers, action movies, and high-drama films.
