Lee Seung-joon (Lee Seung-joon), born on February 11, 1973, in South Korea, is a South Korean actor who has been active since 1999. A graduate of the Seoul Institute of the Arts with a degree in theater, he began his career on stage and remained active in theater before taking on numerous roles in film and television.
After several film appearances in the 2000s, he starred in, among others, War of the Arrows, Doomsday Book, Obsessed, Cart and the great historical success The Admiral: Roaring Currents. He then continues with Vanishing and The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die.
On television, he gradually gained recognition thanks to Nine: Nine Times Time Travel, in which he plays Han Young-hoon, as well as his recurring role in several seasons of Ugly Miss Young Ae. In 2016, its presence in Descendants of the Sun, in the role of Dr. Song Sang-hyeon, played a major part in his rise to fame. That same year, he also played a leading role in Babysitter.
His filmography then expanded to include popular productions such as Mr. Sunshine, in which he plays King Gojong, Thirty But Seventeen, Memories of the Alhambra, He Is Psychometric, The Tale of Nokdu, Find Me in Your Memory, Doom at Your Service and Happiness.
In 2023, he appeared in several acclaimed dramas: Behind Your Touch, Strong Girl Nam-soon and Castaway Diva. In the latter, he plays Jung Bong-wan, Ki-ho's abusive father, in a particularly dark role.
He has been very active ever since, and he keeps going Doctor Slump, Hierarchy, Love Next Door, No Gain, No Love, Love Your Enemy and Namib in 2024, and then The Queen Who Crowns in 2025. By 2026, his filmography includes, among others, No tail to tell, Perfect Crown and The True Value of Love.
A particularly prolific character actor, he has played a variety of roles—from fathers to doctors, authority figures, and antagonists—with a career spanning theater, film, and television.
