Ryoo Seung-ryong (류승룡; 柳承龍) is a South Korean actor born on November 29, 1970, in Seocheon County. After training at the Seoul Institute of the Arts, he first honed his craft on stage, notably as a member of the famous nonverbal theater troupe Nanta, before moving into film in the early 2000s.
His rise to fame is like a story in which every supporting character eventually steals the show. He has made a name for himself in Masquerade, and then moves the audience as a father with an intellectual disability in Miracle in Cell No. 7. He follows that up with The Admiral: Roaring Currents, The Target and Extreme Job, a crime comedy that became one of the biggest hits at the Korean box office. On television, his character, the ruthless aristocrat Cho Hak-ju, spreads terror throughout Kingdom.
Ryoo then confirms his status as a versatile actor: a father with the power of regeneration in Moving, a restaurant owner overwhelmed by the absurd in Chicken Nugget, and then a cunning treasure hunter in Pine. In 2025, he also played Kim Nak-su, an aging executive facing the collapse of his certainties in The Dream Life of Mr. Kim — a year hailed as one of the strongest of his television career.
A second season of Moving is listed among her upcoming projects. In 2027, she will play the lead role of Go Min-jung, the owner of a shop that mysteriously connects the past and the present, in the Disney+ adaptation of The Miracles of the Namiya General Store.
