The Future of Ha Young whether she will appear in another of his upcoming dramas remains uncertain. While her departure from seasons 2 and 3 of « The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call »was recently confirmed; the question of his participation in « The Long Shot Trial » (working title) remains pending.
According to an article published by TV Daily on September 30, SBS is continuing discussions regarding not only whether to keep the actress in the cast but also the scheduling of this new series, the filming of which was already well underway when the controversy surrounding Ha Young’s family history erupted.
SBS confirms that discussions are still ongoing
When asked by TV Daily about a possible change to the distribution and broadcast schedule for «The Long Shot Trial,» an SBS representative simply replied, «We are in discussions.»
No final decision has therefore been announced regarding Ha Young’s possible departure. This uncertainty follows the revelation of information about her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho, whose name appeared in 1916 on the list of advisors to the Taisho Friendship Association, an organization described as supportive of the Japanese colonial administration.
In 1918, he was also cited in the Maeil Sinbo, a newspaper affiliated with the Japanese General Government in Korea, as an example of a «Japanized» household—notably because he lived with his Japanese wife and required his children to speak Japanese. His name has also been linked to historical allegations concerning the possible poisoning of Emperor Gojong.
Following these revelations, Ha Young issued a public apology: «I take the wrongdoings of my great-grandfather very seriously, and as his descendant, I offer my sincere apologies.»
The actress then canceled her promotional activities scheduled for the Netflix series « Our Sticky Love », before stepping down from her role as Cheon Jang-mi in the upcoming seasons of «The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.».
Netflix has since confirmed that Jeong Yein, a former member of Lovelyz, is reportedly set to reprise this role.
More than 80 % of the filming had already been completed
The situation with «The Long Shot Trial,» however, is different, particularly because of how far along it is in production. Adapted from a Japanese drama, the project follows Kwon Baek, a former lawyer turned administrative director, who assembles an unconventional team to turn seemingly hopeless cases into battles that can actually be won.
Filming had begun in February 2026 and was entering its final phase in early September. According to TV Daily, more than 80 % of the scenes had already been filmed when the controversy surrounding Ha Young's great-grandfather became public.
This situation significantly complicates the options for replacing the actress. A casting change would potentially require reshoots, while editing changes could also prove difficult to implement at this stage of production.
SBS had previously stated that it was considering several options, taking into account practical constraints and the need to minimize harm to those involved in the project. For now, the network is maintaining its position: discussions are ongoing, with no announcement regarding Ha Young’s departure or confirmation of a change in the schedule.
Originally scheduled for February 2027, «The Long Shot Trial» is thus still awaiting a decision regarding its final release date and whether the cast will remain the same.
