After learning about the cast and then the script reading from « Final Table », This time, JTBC gives us a more detailed look at the character of’Ahn Hyo-seop. In new stills, the actor transforms into Kang Han, an exceptionally talented chef who prefers to travel the world rather than settle down anywhere. However, a visit to a small restaurant connected to his father will throw his plans into disarray and lead him to a particularly competitive culinary contest.
«Final Table» will follow several talented Korean chefs from all corners of the world as they compete in «The Table: K-Chef 2026,» a competition to determine who deserves the title of best Korean chef. Among the participants will be Kang Han (Ahn Hyo-seop), whose background seems as impressive as it is mysterious.
Blessed with an exceptional palate and great culinary skills, Kang Han has worked abroad and refuses to settle down in one place for good. His free-spirited nature and constant desire to travel lead him to change restaurants almost every year.
And the drama seems to be deliberately keeping the mystery surrounding it alive: His family background and even his nationality remain shrouded in mystery.
A visit to «Familia» will completely change her plans
At the beginning of the story, however, Kang Han already has a contract with a famous restaurant in New York. Before leaving for the United States, he spends some time in Korea, where he enjoys a much simpler life, close to nature. The new images released by JTBC show Ahn Hyo-seop cooking outdoors, far from the high-pressure atmosphere one might expect from a cooking competition.
But his plans are about to be turned upside down when he goes to «Familia», a small Italian restaurant filled with memories of his father. What was supposed to be just a temporary visit then takes an unexpected turn: Kang Han ends up becoming the chef at Familia.
The exact circumstances that led him to take over the management of the establishment remain a mystery. This decision, however, will be significant enough to cause him to rethink his career plans. Kang Han decides, in fact, to postpone his departure for the United States in order to participate in «The Table: K-Chef 2026.».
Ahn Hyo-seop goes from cooking in the great outdoors to competing
The new images actually offer a glimpse into various facets of the character.
After portraying a free-spirited cook who prepares his dishes in the great outdoors, Ahn Hyo-seop appears in a completely different setting when he puts on his chef’s uniform. Focused on his preparations, Kang Han seems to set aside his free-spirited nature to showcase the skills that have allowed him to work in restaurants around the world.
It remains to be seen whether his talent will be enough. The competition will, in fact, bring together exceptionally talented Korean chefs from around the world, each with their own background and approach to cooking. Kang Han will therefore have to assert his culinary vision against opponents who are every bit his equal.
«Final Table» will also bring together Hong Hwa-yeon, who will play Choi Song-yi, the manager of Familia, as well as Chang Ryul, playing the role of Cha Woo-jin, executive chef at the Exception restaurant. Jung Yoo-jin, Jang Young-nam, and Cha Ji-yeon round out the cast.
Beyond the competition, Kang Han’s journey should therefore raise several questions: Why will this chef—who is unable to stay in one place for long—ultimately choose Familia? What kind of relationship does he really have with his father? And what exactly is hidden in his past?
