Biography

Chang Ryul (Jang Ryul), born on February 14, 1989, is a South Korean actor and model. He began his acting career in the mid-2010s and gradually gained recognition through supporting roles in several popular productions.

On the big screen, he has appeared notably in Master's Degree (2016), Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead (2018) and Jo Pil-ho: The Dawning Rage (2019). On television, he began by making a series of appearances in My Mister, Something in the Rain and Lawless Lawyer in 2018. The following year, he participated in Welcome to Waikiki Season 2 and plays Asa Yon in the various parts of Arthdal Chronicles, before playing Lee Joo-ho in Secret Boutique.

In 2020, he appeared in Train and then plays Detective Yoo Jeong-o in Stranger Season 2. His career took on a new dimension in 2021 thanks to My Name, a Netflix action series in which he plays Do Gang-jae, a former member of the Dongcheon crime syndicate. This villainous role has brought him greater visibility and earned him a nomination for Best Actor at the Blue Dragon Series Awards.

He continues with Seo Joon-tae in The Golden Spoon and especially Go Geuk-ryul in the thriller Bargain. In 2023, he changed gears with Daily Dose of Sunshine, in which he plays Hwang Yeo-hwan, a psychiatrist who works at the same facility as the heroine.

In 2025, Chang Ryul will take on two new leading roles. In the historical romance The Chunhwa Scandal, he plays Choi Hwan, while he plays Ju Do-hyeon in Love Me. He is also set to reprise his role as Go Geuk-ryul in Bargain Season 2.

His filmography continues to grow, with several projects announced for 2026, including the series Final Table, in which he plays Cha Woo-jin, as well as the films The Table: Day and Night, Assassins and Frosted Window.
