Yoo Jae-myung (유재명), born on June 3, 1973, in Busan, is a South Korean actor represented by Ace Factory. After working as a theater director in Busan and teaching drama in Seoul for several years, he began his acting career in the early 2000s, taking on numerous supporting roles in film and television.
His fame grew in 2015 thanks to Reply 1988, before he established himself as one of South Korea's most renowned character actors with memorable roles in Stranger, Life, Confession, Itaewon Class and Vincenzo. His performance in Life earned him the award for Best Supporting Actor at the 6th APAN Star Awards.
In film, he has built a rich filmography that includes, among others, Inside Men, The Truth Beneath, A Day, The Drug King, Golden Slumber, The Beast, Bring Me Home, Voice of Silence, Alienoid: Guardians of the Future and Harbin. He is particularly well-regarded for his portrayals of figures in positions of authority and his complex roles.
In recent years, he has been pursuing a very active career with Hometown (2021), Juvenile Justice, The Sound of Magic, Insider (2022), Song of the Bandits (2023), Uncle Samsik and No Way Out: The Roulette (2024). In 2025, he plays leading roles in Love Me and Tempest, while making an appearance in Pro Bono.
Among the projects it has announced are Knock Off, Knock Off Season 2, Country and Nation, Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid and Kin and Sin.
On a personal note, Yoo Jae-myung has been married since October 21, 2018. He met his wife, who is twelve years his junior, while he was directing a play. The couple has one child.
