Knock Off

In the late 1990s, the Asian financial crisis abruptly upended the lives of Kim Seong-jun (Kim Soo-hyun), an ordinary employee who loses his job when the South Korean economy collapses. To survive, he plunges into the underground world of counterfeiting. Thanks to his intelligence, ambition, and ability to capitalize on even the most unpredictable situations, Seong-jun quickly rises through the ranks to become a major figure in the global market for counterfeit goods.

But his rise puts him on a collision course with Song Hye-jeong (Jo Bo-ah), his ex-girlfriend, who is now a criminal investigator specializing in combating counterfeiting. As she tracks down the criminal networks with which Seong-jun is now closely tied, their reunion brings their shared past back to the surface and sets off a dangerous game of cat and mouse between them. Caught between ambition, corruption, money, and survival, Seong-jun will have to face the consequences of the empire he is trying to build.

Note – Broadcast and Controversy

Knock Off was originally supposed to be one of Disney+'s major productions from 2025, with the first broadcast scheduled for as early as April. The March 21, 2025, Disney+ has, however, suspended its launch following allegations against Kim Soo-hyun regarding an alleged relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. In may 2026, South Korean police concluded that the evidence used to support these allegations had been falsified or tampered with, including altered KakaoTalk conversations and an audio recording generated or altered by AI. Despite this major reversal, As recently as May 28, 2026, Disney+ stated that the broadcast of Knock Off remained on hold and no release date had been set. Rumors had suggested a 2026 release, but Disney+ officially denied them in March.
