Biography

Born on February 16, 1988, in Seoul, Kim Soo-hyun is now one of the most popular and influential South Korean actors of his generation. A true Hallyu star, he won over Korean audiences before becoming a leading figure in K-dramas throughout Asia.

As a child, Kim Soo-hyun was particularly shy. His mother encouraged him to take acting classes to help him gain confidence. This experience quickly became a passion. After appearing in several plays during his school years, he made his television debut in 2007 in the sitcom Kimchi Cheese Smile.

His career took a decisive turn in 2011 with Dream High, in which he plays Song Sam-dong, a young man from the countryside with exceptional musical talent. The drama was a huge hit and introduced his talent to the general public. The following year, he cemented his status as a leading actor thanks to The Moon That Embraces the Sun, in which he plays King Lee Hwon. The drama became a huge hit in South Korea and catapulted Kim Soo-hyun to national stardom.

In 2013, he took another step forward with My Love from the Star. His role as Do Min-joon, an alien who has been living on Earth for several centuries, has made him immensely popular throughout Asia.
