Oh Jung-se (오정세; 吳正世) is a South Korean actor born on February 26, 1977, in Uiryeong. A graduate of Sun Moon University with a degree in journalism and communication, he began his career in the late 1990s with small roles in film and television. For more than a decade, he appeared in numerous films and TV series, building a reputation as a character actor capable of bringing real depth to each of his roles.
His career took a turn in 2019 thanks to the dramas When the Camellia Blooms and Hot Stove League. His portrayal of No Gyu-tae earned him, among other honors, the Baeksang Arts Award for Best Supporting Actor. The following year, he impressed audiences once again in It’s Okay to Not Be Okay, where his sensitive portrayal of Moon Sang-tae, a man with autism who is passionate about drawing, was unanimously praised and earned him his second consecutive Baeksang Arts Award.
Alongside his television successes, Oh Jung-se has built a solid film career with movies such as Swing Kids, Extreme Job, The Call, Seoul Vibe and Cobweb (On the Web). More recently, he appeared in Sweet Home, Death's Game, Mr. Plankton, When Life Gives You Tangerines (Life will bear fruit) and Good Boy, confirming his ability to excel in a wide variety of genres.
Starting in 2026, he went on to play one leading role after another in Climax, To the best of our ability and Fifties Professionals. Dramas Rainuibeopchik, scheduled for 2027, and The Return of Kwon Baek, currently in production, are a testament to the trust directors place in him to lead major productions.
Thanks to his nuanced acting, remarkable versatility, and unique sense of composition, Oh Jung-se is now considered one of the best character actors in the South Korean film and television industry.
