Hong Hwa-yeon (홍화연) is a South Korean actress and model born on March 20, 1998, in Gyeonggi Province. A graduate of the Department of Education at Konkuk University, she began her career as a model in 2020 and appeared in a music video that same year Lower Your Expectations from Sugarbowl. She then joined BH Entertainment to pursue a career in acting.
She made her screen debut in 2022 in the sports series Mental Coach Jegal, in which she plays a supporting role. That same year, she appeared in the short web series Only You and in the music video Not About You by Junny.
In 2023, Hong Hwa-yeon will star in a romantic comedy True to Love, in which she plays Bang Woo-ri. This role allows her to gain more experience ahead of 2025, a particularly important year for her career.
In fact, she landed her first major leading role in Buried Hearts, alongside Park Hyung-sik. In the series, she plays Yeo Eun-nam, the granddaughter of a powerful industrial magnate, torn between her feelings, a political marriage, and her determination to uncover the truth about her father’s death. Selected after a highly competitive audition, she drew attention with her sensitive performance alongside more experienced actors.
That same year, she played Yoon Jeong-hee in the political drama I Am a Running Mate and appears in Tastefully Yours as Jang Young-hye, a chef working at the restaurant La Lecel. She is also joining the Netflix series The Price of Confession, in which she plays Kang So-mang.
In 2026, Hong Hwa-yeon continued her rise to stardom with two new leading roles. She played Park A-jeong in Filing for Love, then Choi Song-i in Final Table. In 2027, she was announced as part of the cast of Juhan Iguk Daesagwan, in which she plays Ko Mi-u.
Thanks to her rapid rise and increasingly prominent roles, Hong Hwa-yeon has established herself as one of the most promising young actresses on South Korean television.
