Biography

Born on April 17, 1995, in Seoul, Ahn Hyo-seop—known by his English name Paul Ahn—is a Canadian-South Korean actor and model. He moved to Canada with his family during his childhood and spent about ten years there before returning to South Korea to pursue his dream of becoming an artist. After a stint as a trainee at JYP Entertainment and his debut as a member of the actor-singer group ONE O ONE, he turned his focus entirely to acting.

He made his television debut in 2015 before gaining attention in My Father Is Strange and Still 17, which earned him the Best New Actor award at the SBS Drama Awards. His career took on a new dimension with Abyss, and especially with Dr. Romantic 2, where his portrayal of surgeon Seo Woo-jin won over audiences and led to him reprising the role in the third season.

In 2022, he rose to international stardom thanks to Business Proposal. His portrayal of the charismatic Kang Tae-moo made the series one of Netflix's biggest romantic hits that year. He then cemented his popularity with A Time Called You (Someday or One Day), a Korean adaptation of the famous Taiwanese drama, in which he takes on the challenge of playing multiple characters.

At the same time, Ahn Hyo-seop is advancing his film career by playing the lead role of Kim Dok-ja in Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy and by providing the voice for the character Jinu in the animated film K-Pop Demon Hunters. In 2026, he continued his momentum with the dramas It's Sold Out Again Today and The Final Table, in which he plays Kang Han, also known as Chris K.

Thanks to his charisma, his ease in both romantic comedies and dramas, and his growing international popularity, Ahn Hyo-seop has established himself as one of the biggest stars of the new generation of K-dramas.
