This is the culinary drama you won't want to miss in October. Before facing off against some of the best Korean chefs from around the world, Ahn Hyo-seop and Hong Hwa-yeon will have to learn to function as a real team in « Final Table ». The culinary drama follows Kang Han (Ahn Hyo-seop), a particularly talented Korean chef who has built his career abroad, and Choi Song-yi (Hong Hwa-yeon), the maître d' at the Familia restaurant who has never worked in the kitchen before.
Yet their paths will bring them together in «The Table: K-Chef 2026,» a survival competition to determine the best Korean chef. New footage shows exactly how their relationship will evolve: from an initial encounter between a customer and a maître d’ to a mentor-apprentice duo determined to save Familia—and perhaps the beginning of a romance!
Ahn Hyo-seop Leaves New York to Take the Helm at Familia
When Kang Han returns to Familia after a long absence, his future already seems to lie elsewhere. A chef with an exceptional palate, he has just signed a contract with a famous New York restaurant and is about to begin a new chapter in his career in the United States.
However, Familia holds a special place in his history, as it is a restaurant filled with memories of his father. Circumstances would eventually lead him to become its chef and then to participate in «The Table: K-Chef 2026.».
The new footage revisits his arrival at the restaurant and his first encounter with Choi Song-yi. She watches him with an expression full of emotion, hinting that their encounter will not be a mere interaction between a customer and a maître d’.
Song-yi, too, has a very personal reason for wanting to save Familia. Her father, the former chef, cut himself off from the world after being unjustly disgraced. She therefore hopes to restore his reputation and prevent the restaurant from closing.
However, there is still one major problem: she has never set foot in a kitchen as a professional.
Hong Hwa-yeon is going to learn how to cook so she can take on the best chefs
Although Song-yi lacks experience, she nevertheless possesses great dexterity. Kang Han will try to turn this potential into real culinary skills through intensive training. Other images show the characters played by Ahn Hyo-seop and Hong Hwa-yeon now working together in the kitchen. Kang Han becomes her mentor, while Song-yi gradually progresses from a beginner to a sous-chef capable of supporting him.
The duo will then share the same goal: to keep Familia afloat as they face chefs who are far more experienced in the competition.
This contrast is likely to be one of the key challenges of their participation. Kang Han already has international experience and recognized culinary skills, while Song-yi must learn a trade that she had previously only observed from the outside.
But «Final Table» isn’t just expected to deepen their professional bond. One of the new photos shows them particularly close during an intense cooking session. This closeness hints at a more personal tension between the mentor and his apprentice, adding a romantic dimension to their journey in the competition.
It remains to be seen whether their still-new duo can truly compete with the renowned chefs gathered for «The Table: K-Chef 2026» and help Familia reclaim its place.
