To mark its tenth anniversary in Korea, Netflix had a big surprise in store for zombie fans: Cheong-san isn’t dead. The revelation came on Saturday, October 24, during the «What Next?» presentation, the highlight of the festival organized by the platform in Seoul. A look back at Cheong-san, Byeon Woo-seok’s first appearance as the hero in «Solo Leveling,» «Tantara,» «Grand Galaxy Hotel»… here’s everything we learned during this star-studded evening.

«All of Us Are Dead»: The Return of Cheong-san
It was the moment everyone had been waiting for, and it didn't disappoint. On stage, Yoon Chan-young addressed the audience, asking if they remembered Cheong-san from « We are all dead«. Before breaking the news: contrary to what everyone had thought since the end of Season 1, his character is still alive.”.
Warning: Spoilers for the Season 1 finale.
Fans had seen Cheong-san sacrifice himself in the 2022 finale. His return is therefore a game-changer for what’s to come. On stage, Park Ji-hu, who plays On-jo, played along by telling him that she had been very worried she would never see him again.

The rest of the gang will also be back. Cho Yi-hyun reunites with Nam-ra, who is still half-zombie and wandering around Hyosan. Lomon joked about Su-hyeok, who has returned as a «wonderful adult.» That’s because Season 2 takes a leap forward in time: the high schoolers have become college students and young adults, and the action moves from their school to Seoul, where a larger and more violent crisis involving «evolved» zombies awaits them.
The only downside: no images or release date. The series is simply listed as «coming soon,» likely in early 2027.
«Solo Leveling»: Byeon Woo-seok's first appearance as Sung Jin-woo
Another highlight was the arrival of Byeon Woo-seok, brought to the attention of the general public by « Lovely Runner ». The actor was making his first public appearance as Sung Jin-woo, the hero of the live-action adaptation of « Solo Leveling ".
He said he was very honored to present such a popular project on the occasion of such an anniversary. And he confirmed that filming was still underway. Netflix highlighted the scale of the phenomenon: the webtoon and online novel have amassed 14.3 billion views worldwide, and the animated adaptation swept the awards at the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards.
No images are available at this time, and a release isn't expected until late 2027 at the earliest.

«Tantara»: Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo on Stage
Song Hye-kyo, Gong Yoo and Seolhyun performed « Tantara », whose release on December 11 had been announced earlier this week.
Song Hye-kyo described a series in which the reality of the entertainment industry from the 1960s to the 1980s is brutal and violent, but where the desire to succeed and the care for others continue to shine through, even in the mud. Gong Yoo spoke of characters who hold their heads high even when they’re mocked and always find a way to overcome obstacles.

«Grand Galaxy Hotel»: by the team behind «Hotel Del Luna»
Lee Do-hyun and Shin Si-a presented « Grand Galaxy Hotel », the new fantasy series from the team behind « Hotel Del Luna ». It features a familiar concept: a hotel that welcomes and soothes the souls of the deceased.
Lee Do-hyun plays Eun-ha, the new owner, who takes over the hotel after the previous owner’s mysterious disappearance. He’s a feisty character who hides a secret past. Shin Si-a plays Sang-soon, the hotel’s only human employee—a manager who isn’t afraid of ghosts and uses her business acumen to attract customers. The series is set to premiere next year.

«Beauty in the Beast» Becomes «Wolf Girl»
Kim Min-ju, Lomon and Moon Sang-min presented « Beauty in the Beast », whose final Korean title means «Wolf Girl.» Kim Min-ju plays Min-su, a young werewolf who has spent her life hiding her true nature, and whose childhood dream is to go to college to make friends.
Moon Sang-min plays Hae-jun, a student older than her, and Lomon, who appeared in two projects that day, plays Do-ha, another werewolf. Kim Min-ju hinted that the title had a double meaning.

The Stars of Blockbusters Gathered Together
Before looking ahead to the future, the event paid tribute to the series and movies that have made Netflix a success in Korea. And the star-studded lineup lived up to expectations.
Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun, two iconic figures of « Squid Game », were there. Ahn Hyo-seop came to represent «KPop Demon Hunters,» the animated film that has become a global phenomenon, in which he voices Jinu, the leader of the demonic boy band. As for TV series, Yeom Hye-ran and Lee Han-byeol traveled to the set of «Mask Girl.».

Fans of «D.P.» were also treated to a wonderful reunion: the duo made up of Jung Hae-in and Kyo Koo-hwan, two soldiers tasked with tracking down army deserters, were together on stage. Netflix Korea had some fun with it on social media, celebrating the return of this very real duo.

The festival continues this Sunday, October 25, with a second day of concerts, games, and meet-and-greets, which will once again be streamed live on Netflix Korea's YouTube channel, as well as on Chzzk and TikTok.
In the World of Cinema: The New Lee Chang-dong
The only film presented, Lee Chang-dong’s «Possible Love,» was the only project to release a trailer. Starring Sol Kyung-gu, Jeon Do-yeon, Jo Yeo-jeong, and Jo In-sung, this drama about love throughout a lifetime—which has already been released in theaters in Korea and screened at several major film festivals—will arrive on Netflix on November 6.

Announcements, but few images
The evening began with a message from Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos, who thanked Korean creators, actors, and audiences, noting how far stories originating in Korea had traveled around the world.
Still, fans were hoping for more. Several Korean media outlets had announced the first teasers, particularly for «All of Us Are Dead» and «Solo Leveling.» In the end, the presentation mostly consisted of cast announcements, with no release dates given for the 2027 series. Stay tuned to Kdrama Kopi for more updates on all these dramas in the weeks and months ahead!
