Jo Bo-ah is currently considering the proposal

On October 2, reports came out that Jo Bo-ah had been cast to replace Lee Chung-ah in the upcoming drama «The Obedient Killer,» the drama’s literal translation.

Her agency quickly clarified the situation: «Jo Bo-ah recently received a casting offer for “The Obedient Killer.” She is currently considering the offer,» the agency said.

The actress is indeed in talks to reprise the role of Lee Hwa-ra, nicknamed “Miss Lee”, but her participation should not be considered confirmed at this time. Set in the 1970s and 1980s, «The Obedient Killer» will tell the story of a woman whose sole goal was to become a devoted wife and mother.

Her life, however, takes an unexpected turn after her divorce. Faced with the need to support herself, she then agrees to a job she never would have imagined doing. The exact nature of this new project is not further detailed in the information provided here, although the drama is expected to feature numerous action scenes.

Lee Chung-ah had already started filming

This potential casting change comes under unusual circumstances, as Lee Chung-ah had initially been cast as Lee Hwa-ra and had already started filming the drama.

However, the actress had to withdraw from the project after a car accident. According to reports, the accident reportedly exacerbated a back problem she was already suffering from. Since «The Obedient Killer» features numerous physically demanding action scenes, it was difficult for her to continue filming in her condition.

Lee Chung-ah ultimately left the production partway through. Jo Bo-ah’s potential arrival would therefore require a complete reimagining of the character, not just a change made before filming began.

At this time, no definitive announcement has been made regarding her acceptance of the offer. We will therefore have to wait for Jo Bo-ah’s decision and confirmation from the production team before officially considering Lee Hwa-ra as her next role.
