White Scandal

Adapted from a popular webcomic, White Scandal to follow Ji Eun-seol, a former child star whose career fell apart after she took the blame for crimes committed by her older brother.

Refusing to give up on her dream of becoming an actress, she now works as a field manager. Her life is turned upside down when she runs into Dan Yi-hyuk, a hugely famous figure closely tied to the tragedy that turned his life upside down. The two enter into a contractual relationship that will gradually lead them to uncover long-buried truths.

A Fake Relationship Between a Chaebol Heir and a Former Child Star

Song Kang will play the role of Dan Yi-hyuk, one of South Korea's most popular actors, but also a third-generation heir to a chaebol family.

Born as an illegitimate son into this powerful family, Yi-hyuk grew up constantly striving to live up to the image his grandfather expected of him. In front of the cameras, he became a star. In his private life, however, he remains a prisoner of his status as an heir and his family’s expectations.

As he tries to escape the battle over the family business's succession, he eventually begins to a fake romantic relationship with Ji Eun-seol, played by Kim So-hyun. She, too, has a complicated past. A former child star once destined for a brilliant career, Ji Eun-seol saw her path abruptly cut short following a mysterious incident.

Although she is now a manager, she has never completely given up on her dream of becoming an actress again.

A reunion tied to a secret from the past

However, the relationship between the two characters won't start from scratch. Dan Yi-hyuk was at the center of the incident that turned Ji Eun-seol's career and life upside down.

When their paths cross again, their fake romance will gradually force them to confront the wounds they’ve tried to bury—and to uncover the truth behind the events of the past.

«White Scandal» will thus revolve as much around the feelings that develop between its two protagonists as around the mystery surrounding their shared history. Their relationship, initially intended to deceive the public, could ultimately become a means for each of them to heal.

This reunion is sure to be closely watched by fans of «Love Alarm.» In that series, Song Kang and Kim So-hyun portrayed a teenage romance marked by first love and a love triangle that became particularly popular. «White Scandal» will feature them this time adult characters, each with their own traumas and secrets.

On his side, Ryu Hye-young was offered the role of Dan Yoo-jin, the eldest of the grandchildren of the powerful family that owns the NB Group. Having become a prosecutor in the hope of distancing herself from the expectations of her grandfather, the conglomerate’s chairman, Dan Yoo-jin also has a complicated relationship with Dan Yi-hyuk, the family's illegitimate child.

Although they are half-brother and half-sister, they both share the same wish: never to become the heirs to the family business.

The screenplay for White Scandal is signed Kim Ga-eun (Call It Love), while the production will be handled by Kim Chul-gyu, best known for Flower of Evil.

Update August 25, 2026: Filming for «White Scandal» is set to begin soon. MBC has not yet announced an air date.

Update August 27: Two casting announcements—Lee Min-jae will play Hong Kang-ho, the leader of an idol group that never found success. He is a character who dreamed of becoming an actor but debuted as an idol and ended up deep in debt, before becoming involved in a relationship with Dan Yu-jin (Ryu Hye-young).
