tvN's upcoming romantic drama, «My Bias, My Boss,» is finally taking shape. The Korean network has unveiled photos from the script reading as well as the air date for this webtoon adaptation starring Kang Hoon, Kim Hye-joon, Cha Woo-min and Yuna from ITZY.
Set to premiere in August, the series promises to blend office romance, the world of idols, and a love triangle.
An employee who joins a company to meet her favorite idol
«My Bias, My Boss» tells the story of Nam Da-reum, a young woman who joins a company in the hope of getting closer to her favorite idol.
Kim Hye-joon plays this energetic new employee who dreams of becoming her company's favorite employee.
Opposite her, Kang Hoon plays Kang Ha-gi, the company’s director. Formidable at work but clumsy when it comes to matters of the heart, he is expected to quickly develop a special relationship with the young woman.
Throughout the performance, Kang Hoon alternated between his character’s charisma in the professional world and his tenderness in romantic scenes, while Kim Hye-joon brought a radiant energy to Nam Da-reum.
A love triangle involving a K-pop star
Cha Woo-min plays Lee Chan, Nam Da-reum’s favorite idol. Thanks to his natural charm and star power, his character will quickly disrupt the budding relationship between the employee and her boss.
While Nam Da-reum and Kang Ha-gi spend their time bickering, Lee Chan gradually finds himself drawn into their relationship, hinting at a love triangle.
The production team also notes that the fictional band D.N.X. will play an important role in the story. During the script reading, the actors reportedly even clapped and cheered during the scenes involving the band, creating a concert-like atmosphere.
ITZY's Yuna adds a new twist to the story
Yuna plays Yoon Choi, a famous actress known for her natural beauty. Her character seems to have two very different sides: a gentle and reserved personality on one hand, but also a much more mysterious and determined demeanor.
His presence is likely to add a new layer of tension to the relationships between the main characters.
Combining office romance, first love, the world of idols, and romantic comedy, «My Bias, My Boss» is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated rom-coms of the summer.
The drama will premiere on August 3 at 8:50 p.m. (Korean time) on tvN (streaming platform to be announced)
