Moon So-ri (Moon So-ri) is a South Korean actress, director, and screenwriter born on July 2, 1974, in Busan. After earning a degree in education from Sungkyunkwan University, she began her career in theater with the Han Theater Company before appearing in several short films in the late 1990s.
She made her film debut in Peppermint Candy by Lee Chang-dong in 2000. His career took on a new dimension with Oasis in 2002, in which she plays a young woman with cerebral palsy. Her performance earned her the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival. She followed that up the next year with A Korean woman, and then went on to star in films such as The President's Barber, Family Ties, Forever the Moment, Hahaha, In Another Country, Venus Talk and Hill of Freedom.
She has collaborated with several leading figures in South Korean cinema, including Lee Chang-dong, Hong Sang-soo, Park Chan-wook, and Yim Soon-rye. She has appeared in Miss in 2016 and Little Forest in 2018. Her other roles include Juror 8, Maggie, Three Sisters, Seoul Vibe and I Want to Meet Your Parents.
On television, she made her debut in The Legend in 2007. She went on to play major roles in Life, Queenmaker and Breed. In 2024, she appeared in Jeong Nyeon and Hellbound 2. In 2025, she plays the older version of Oh Ae-sun in When Life Gives You Tangerines and has made guest appearances in Oh My Ghost Customers and Our Movie. In 2026, she plays one of the leading roles in The Apartment Job.
Moon So-ri also has a career behind the camera. She directs and writes the screenplay for the short film The Actress in 2014, and then expanded this approach in The Running Actress. She is also the producer of the film Three Sisters in 2021.
