Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun are set to make hearts flutter in « Between Steps ". With one month to go before its premiere, the romantic drama shared photos from its script reading, featuring its two lead actors alongside the production team.
Set to premiere on October 5, the drama will follow two young adults as they try to find their way again after their original plans have been turned upside down. It’s a story of rebuilding and emotions that will unfold, in part, in the world of a robotics research lab.
Choo Young-woo and Kim So-hyun immerse themselves in their roles
Choo Young-woo interpreter Park Min-jae, a former swimmer who once dreamed of pursuing a career in sports. After losing his right leg to an illness, he had to give up that dream and rebuild his future. He eventually turned to robotics and is now pursuing a Ph.D. in that field.
Facing him, Kim So-hyun becomes Im Yoo-jin, a young woman who is also reaching a turning point in her life. As she nears the end of her studies in textiles and apparel, an event causes her to question the path she thought she would follow. She then chooses a new direction and, in turn, turns her attention to robotics.
Photos from the script reading show the two actors focused on their characters, but the production team is already highlighting their chemistry.
Kim So-hyun had this to say about her first experience: «I was sitting across from Yoo-jin, going over the lines, and my heart started racing.» The promotional campaign for this production thus highlights a sense of camaraderie that reportedly allowed the actors to immerse themselves immediately in their story.
Their relationship is expected to gradually blossom into a romance that will blend the hesitations of youth, the challenges of college life, and questions about their future.
Director Ahn Pan-seok's latest film
«Between Steps» also has a special significance because it is Director Ahn Pan-seok's latest film, who died on August 12, 2026.
The filmmaker was particularly renowned for his portrayal of human relationships and everyday emotions. His notable works include *Something in the Rain*, *One Spring Night*, and *The Midnight Romance in Hagwon*—three romantic films praised for their intimate emotions and realistic portrayal of relationships.
The screenplay, meanwhile, was written by Min Hyo-jung, best known for «Rooftop Room Cat» and «Full House.» The series is expected to explore the sometimes sweet, sometimes bitter experiences of young researchers torn between their feelings, their studies, and a reality that doesn’t always live up to their expectations.
Visit The first teaser had already begun to give a glimpse about the relationship between Min-jae and Yoo-jin. In one of them, the two characters were walking together in the rain, while another showed Min-jae unable to hide his attraction to the young woman, simply confessing to her, «You’re pretty,» and then, «You’re cute and kind.»
This time, the photos of the actors reading the script allow us to go back to the origins of this alchemy, before discovering their story on screen.
«Between Steps» will premiere on October 5 on ENA and will be available on Disney+.
