A chef who's afraid of her own kitchen
It's one of the most touching secrets in the series. Choi Song-yi (Hong Hwa-yeon) had long avoided cooking, convinced that every time she stepped into the kitchen, an accident would eventually happen. A deeply ingrained fear that weighs heavily on someone who inherited the restaurant from his father.
Even after meeting the requirements to enter «The Table: K-Chef 2026» competition, she never really managed to let it go.
A Merciless Workout
To help him grow, Kang Han (Ahn Hyo-seop) radically changes his approach. Gone are the pre-competition training sessions: from now on, every time Song-yi fails, she has to start all over again. And the exercises he makes her do are much harder than before.
It’s a demanding approach, reflecting the character of this brilliant chef who accepts nothing less than excellence. But it’s also a sign of trust: if he pushes her this far, it’s because he believes in her potential.
A salad bowl filled with eggshells
The new footage speaks volumes about how difficult the task is. In it, Kang Han patiently explains the steps to Song-yi, standing next to a large bowl filled with eggshells—silent witnesses to her many failed attempts.
But the young woman refuses to give up. Focused and determined, she continues to work tirelessly on her dish. Perhaps this will reveal a hidden talent that neither she nor the audience suspected she had.
A duo growing closer
After the secret getaway in Episode 5, when the two chefs had gone off on their own search for exceptional ingredients, this one-on-one training session confirms the growing bond between Kang Han and Song-yi. The demanding teacher and the tenacious student are becoming an increasingly close-knit duo, just as Famiglia—victor of the first round—prepares for the next stage of the competition.
