Kim Woo-bin is taking a completely different approach for his next drama (after playing a genius !). In « GIFT », the actor will play a former professional baseball coach forced to take the helm of a high school team ranked last in the country. With two months to go before the premiere, tvN reveals new images of Jung Min-yong, a coach who is as intimidating as he is demanding, whose approach to evaluating his players is about to be turned upside down by a mysterious power.

Kim Woo-bin Becomes a Coach Who's Hard to Approach
Based on a popular webtoon, «GIFT» will follow Jung Min-yong, a former pitching coach for a professional team. After an unexpected accident, he acquires a special ability, the exact nature of which is not specified in this latest information. His career also takes a radically different turn as he finds himself leading a high school baseball team located at the very bottom of the national rankings.
Min-yong, however, isn't the kind of coach who readily offers words of encouragement.
He calmly analyzes each player’s abilities, identifying both their talents and their limitations. The new images perfectly capture his personality: with a piercing gaze, a stern expression, sunglasses, and a whistle around his neck, Kim Woo-bin exudes a commanding presence that keeps his players at a distance.

But this apparent detachment doesn’t mean he’s lost his passion for baseball. Other photos show him right out on the field with his team, revealing a coach who’s willing to get involved alongside his players rather than just watching them from the sidelines.
A man who no longer believes only in hard work
Jung Min-yong’s career should also prompt us to consider how a coach assesses a player’s potential. In the past, he firmly believed the efforts and process that lead to progress. However, a series of events would change the way he thought.
Min-yong then begins to place more trust in the talent he can see with his own eyes. This development is set to take on a special significance after the accident that grants him his mysterious ability. As he takes charge of a team considered the weakest in the country, he will now have to determine what his players are truly capable of and how far they can go.

The contrast between his ruthless view of their limitations and his genuine passion for the sport could thus become one of the driving forces behind «GIFT.» For his part, Kim Woo-bin will have to navigate between Min-yong’s almost intimidating authority and the much more personal commitment he shows when he joins his players on the field.

Above all, it remains to be seen what his character will see thanks to his new ability, and how this «gift» will change the way he coaches a team that no one seems to expect to reach the top.
«GIFT» will premiere on December 5 at 9:10 p.m. on tvN (No international platform has been announced yet.).
