The Shady Lawyer

The Shady Lawyer will be set against the backdrop of tort lawsuits—an area of civil law where the risks can be considerable, but where the potential rewards are just as great.

The drama aims to delve into a civil justice system that deals with some 12,000 cases per day, for a total estimated amount of 52,000 billion won (approximately 37 billion dollars) in litigation.

At the heart of this veritable «war over money,» lawyers—far from being the most prestigious stars in their profession—will take on particularly risky cases. The series is thus expected to blend legal strategy with heist storytelling, while offering a less conventional take on the concepts of law and justice.

Kim Nam-gil and Lee Joo-bin could make a formidable duo

Kim Nam-gil was offered the role of Jang Do-young, a man who views the ruthless world of trials as a giant gambling table. To him, legal proceedings become wagers he is willing to take on without hesitation.

Lee Joo-bin, for her part, could play the role of Cha Ha-kyung, a wealthy and privileged lawyer who isn't primarily motivated by money. What she seeks above all else is victory.

Her obsession with winning is likely to lead her to team up with Jang Do-young, forming a duo embroiled in legal battles where the financial stakes will be particularly high.

The Shady Lawyer is scheduled to air on ENA. Filming is expected to begin in early 2027, although no specific air date has been announced yet.
