With just a few weeks to go before the premiere of « Spooky in Love », Park Eun-bin She opened up about her character and how she prepared for this new role.
The actress, who plays the heiress Cheon Yeo-ri, spoke in particular about her character’s dual personality, the famous gloves she always wears, and the reasons that led her to join the project.
A perfect woman hiding an impossible life
In «Spooky in Love,» Park Eun-bin plays Cheon Yeo-ri, the manager of a luxury hotel who seems to have it all: beauty, wealth, and professional success.
But behind this flawless image lies a dark secret. Cheon Yeo-ri can see ghosts, and anyone who touches her hand also inherits this ability. The actress explains that this contradiction immediately caught her attention. «The contrast between her image as a hotel manager and the side of herself she has to hide from others struck me as particularly interesting. I was moved by the way she tries to overcome a situation that prevents her from living a normal life, even though she wants to.»
This duality had already been highlighted in previous teasers, which initially portrayed Cheon Yeo-ri as a cold and aloof leader before revealing that she spent her nights surrounded by spirits.
A perfect public image, a vulnerable woman in private
Park Eun-bin also explained that she focused on the differences between how others perceive Cheon Yeo-ri and her true personality. «In the first part of the story, I tried to portray a flawless image. But in her private moments, I wanted to reveal a more human, imperfect, and complex side of her.»
This development is expected to be one of the central elements of the drama, as Ma Gang-wook, the prosecutor played by Yang Se-jong, gradually begins to uncover Yeo-ri’s true personality.
The recently unveiled posters already hinted at the special relationship between the two characters, while Kang Min-hwan, played by Ong Seong-wu, further complicated the situation.
Cheon Yeo-ri's famous gloves have a real meaning
Ever since the first stills from the drama were released, the gloves worn by Cheon Yeo-ri have become one of the character's most recognizable features.
Park Eun-bin reveals that she paid special attention to this accessory. «I tried to make sure the gloves blended naturally with all of her outfits, whether she was wearing her hotel manager’s uniform or her work clothes. I varied the styles while keeping this common element.»
These gloves aren't just a fashion choice. They allow Yeo-ri to avoid any physical contact that might transmit her ability to see ghosts.
Characters Destined to Change
Finally, the actress believes that one of the main appeals of «Spooky in Love» lies in the evolution of its characters. «I hope viewers will appreciate the changes the characters go through as they meet and interact with one another.»
After several teasers highlighting the relationship between Yeo-ri, Ma Gang-wook, and Kang Min-hwan, the production continues to emphasize the emotional transformations that lie ahead for the three protagonists.
«Spooky in Love» will premiere on July 18 at 9:10 p.m. on tvN and will also be available on Netflix.
