Ten years of love, a risky pact, and an ending that many didn't see coming. « A Love Other Than Yours » («Un autre amour que le tien» in French) took its final bow on November 1 at KBS 2TV (and Prime Video) with its 14th episode. And to say the least, this finale leaves no one indifferent. Between viewers moved by its sincerity and fans frustrated by the heroine’s fate, the series’ conclusion, led by Seo Kang-jun and Ahn Eun-jin is a topic of debate.

A Separation Accepted with Dignity

As a reminder, the series followed Namgoong Ho (Seo Kang-jun) and Lee Mi-do (Ahn Eun-jin), a couple who had been together for 10 years and had made a pact to save their relationship: each would date someone else for a month. He went out with his coworker Park Soo-ah (Jo A-ram), she with Han Tae-seung (Lee Joo-ahn).

Judging by the audience’s reactions, the experience ultimately took its toll on the couple. The final episode confirms their breakup, which was mutually agreed upon, following a two-year time jump. Each has moved on with their lives: Mi-do has grown closer to Tae-seung, while Namgoong has found love with Soo-ah.

A final, deeply emotional gathering

Before parting ways for good, the two former lovers meet one last time. Namgoong gives Mi-do a book containing an old drawing of her from their school days. This single gesture encapsulates their entire 10-year history together.

The series ends with a line from Mi-do, who speaks not of waiting for the first snow, but for spring—the season when the seed Namgoong planted within her will finally blossom. It’s an open-ended and poetic conclusion that not all fans interpret in the same way.

Fans Are Divided

On social media, this finale sparked a wide range of reactions.

Some viewers are praising the realistic ending. To them, the series had the courage to show that loving someone with all your heart doesn’t necessarily mean ending up together. Fans of the duo formed by Namgoong and Soo-ah—nicknamed «Namsua»—are also delighted to see the «supporting characters» come out on top for once, and they praise the chemistry in their final scenes.

Others are much more bitter. They lament Mi-do’s fate—her career as a director never really took off, and she still seems to be mourning her relationship with Namgoong even though he has moved on. Some even criticize the series for sacrificing its heroine. The character of Tae-seung also continues to divide opinion, with some viewers finding his behavior toward Mi-do problematic.

There is, however, one point on which everyone agrees: Ahn Eun-jin’s performance, which has been praised for the emotion she brought to her character.
