«The Perfect Lie»: Yoo Yeon-seok seems to have a perfect life with his son… until everything falls apart

Before comparing his version of the truth with that of Seo Hyun-jin, Yoo Yeon-seok seems to lead an almost flawless life in « The Perfect Lie ». But new stills from the MBC psychological thriller show that this peace is unlikely to last.

Following the recent episodes in which Min Joon-ho and Kang Ji-sun accused each other of lying about the same memory, the drama now turns its attention to Yoo Yeon-seok’s daily life before the crisis that will turn everything upside down. A respected heart surgeon and single father, Min Joon-ho seems to have everything under control—until an unexpected event wipes the smile off his face.

A respected surgeon who is raising his son on his own

Min Joon-ho is described as a man known among those close to him for always tell the truth.

Professionally, he works as a cardiothoracic surgeon and has earned the trust of those around him. But his daily life isn’t limited to the hospital: since his wife’s death, he has been raising his son on his own.

The new images offer a glimpse into this much more intimate side of the character. Far from the seriousness of his profession, Joon-ho flashes a relaxed, warm smile when he’s with his child. His expression even takes on a mischievous look, hinting at a particularly close bond between father and son.

Handsome, skilled at his job, and with a warm personality, Joon-ho is thus deliberately portrayed as a man who is almost flawless. An ideal image that makes the rest of his story all the more intriguing.

Her perfect daily life suddenly gives way to shock

Another photo does indeed create a completely different atmosphere. This time, Min Joon-ho isn't smiling anymore. Yoo Yeon-seok appears in shock and clearly bewildered, as if his character had just been confronted with something he hadn't anticipated at all.

The drama hasn't yet revealed what triggers this reaction, but this breakdown occurs just as the plot is set to place Joon-ho at the center of a conflict in which his word will be called into question.

Facing him, Seo Hyun-jin plays Kang Ji-sun, a librarian and elementary school teacher who pays close attention not only to what others say, but also to the intentions that may lie behind their words. Both of them will eventually give completely opposing versions of the same memory, with each claiming to be telling the truth.

After showcasing their confrontation on its new posters, «The Perfect Lie» begins to reveal what Joon-ho might have to lose when this crisis disrupts a life that had previously been portrayed as stable and happy.

Directed by Jo Young-min («You and Everything Else»), «The Perfect Lie» will premiere on October 30 at 9:50 p.m. on MBC and on Disney+, but this is still to be confirmed internationally.
