Kim Jung-hyun (김정현), born on April 5, 1990, in Busan, is a South Korean actor who studied at the Korea National University of Arts. He began his career in film before turning to television, where he first gained attention in 2016 in Jealousy Incarnate. The following year, he gained more visibility with Rebel: The Thief Who Stole the People and, above all, School 2017, in which he plays the rebellious high school student Hyun Tae-woon.
In 2018, he took a completely different direction with a comedy Welcome to Waikiki. His role as Kang Dong-goo, an unlucky filmmaker and co-owner of a chaotic guesthouse, allows him to showcase his true comedic talent. That same year, he went on to star in the melodrama Time, in which he plays Cheon Soo-ho, a man facing an incurable illness.
His career took on an international dimension in 2019 with Crash Landing on You. Playing Gu Seung-jun, a fugitive businessman with a tragic fate, he and Seo Dan form one of the drama’s most beloved secondary couples.
He then cemented his success with Mr. Queen in 2020–2021. Playing the role of King Cheoljong, Kim Jung-hyun weaves together humor, romance, and political intrigue alongside Shin Hye-sun. The drama became one of the biggest hits of his career and helped boost his popularity with international audiences.
After a period of relative obscurity, he returned in 2023 in Kokdu: Season of the Deity, where he plays several roles centered around a god of death. He goes on to Iron Family in 2024, and then landed a leading role in A Hundred Memories in 2025.
In 2026, Kim Jung-hyun took on several projects, including Siren's kiss and Love in Disguise, reaffirming his desire to alternate between romance, comedy, and darker characters. Another upcoming project, The second person to "Like.".
