The countdown has begun. JTBC has set Saturday, December 5, as the launch date for « Sacred Jewel » («The Sacred Jewel» in French), his historical drama starring Ahn Bo-hyun, Lee Sung-min and Claudia Kim. The network also reveals a new aspect of the expedition: Ha Yoon-kyung, who plays the guide tasked with leading the convoy through a kingdom at war.
A Tavern Owner Turned Tour Guide
Ha Yun-kyung, best known for her role in « Extraordinary Attorney Woo » or, more recently, in « The Apartment Job«, played by Geol Seung. Formerly the proprietress of Cheongru, a tavern in the market on Ganghwa Island, she is one of the key figures connected to the sacred pearl. Ganghwa is by no means an insignificant setting: the Goryeo court had taken refuge there during the Mongol invasions.”.
At Baek Gyeol’s (Ahn Bo-hyun) request, Geol Seung joins the escort convoy, to support its mission to protect the kingdom. The new images show her in two different roles: behind the counter at her tavern, and then leading the expedition.
A Survivor with a Kind Heart
Geol Seung, a pragmatic young woman, finds her life turned upside down by Baek Gyeol’s arrival. But she proves perfectly capable of surviving, even among the warriors of the Yabyeolcho, Goryeo’s elite unit.
Behind his cunning nature and outspoken manner lie a warm heart and a deep Buddhist faith. This detail takes on its full meaning in a quest centered on a relic linked to Avalokiteshvara, a major figure in Buddhism.
A High-Tension Teaser
A new teaser also sets the tone for the series. We learn that the Pearl of Avalokiteshvara is now the only way to break the kingdom out of its impasse. In it, Baek Gyeol vows to give his life for the mission.
A conversation sums up what’s at stake on the journey: someone urges the young man to forget the Goryeo he knows, for he is about to discover the kingdom’s true nature. Baek Gyeol, for his part, asks for a favor if he returns victorious: to be allowed to see the princess again at Gyeonghwa Palace. The answer is final: if he fails, he must never set foot alive on the soil of Ganghwa again.
The teaser ends with a promise from the young commander: he will fight to build the reality he desires.
An Evening of Competition
«Sacred Jewel» will air starting Saturday, December 5, 2026, at 10:40 p.m. (Korean time)—which is 2:40 p.m. in France—on JTBC. It will be available internationally on Prime Video.
