The cast of the live-action adaptation of « Solo Leveling »could continue to expand around" Byeon Woo-seok. After several names were mentioned in recent months, Choi Myung-bin is now reportedly being considered for the role of Sung Jin-ah, the younger sister of the protagonist Sung Jin-woo. For now, however, her agency is remaining cautious: nothing has been confirmed yet.
On September 20, OSEN reported that Choi Myung-bin is expected to join the live-action adaptation of «Solo Leveling.» The actress has reportedly been offered the role of Sung Jin-ah, the younger sister of Sung Jin-woo, the main character who will be played by Byeon Woo-seok.
When asked about this report, her agency O3 Collective She simply gave a very brief response: «Nothing has been confirmed.» We will therefore have to wait for an official announcement before taking Choi Myung-bin’s participation for granted.
Choi Myung-bin could become Byeon Woo-seok's younger sister
Originally a web novel before becoming a webtoon and then an animated series, «Solo Leveling» tells the story of Sung Jin-woo, an E-rank Hunter—the lowest rank among the fighters tasked with protecting the world from monsters that appear through mysterious portals.
After narrowly escaping death, however, Jin-woo gains extraordinary abilities that allow him to grow in power. The man who was once at the very bottom of the hierarchy then begins a rise that could make him one of humanity’s last hopes.
Byeon Woo-seok has already been officially confirmed for the role of Sung Jin-woo. If the reports about Choi Myeong-bin are true, the actress will play his younger sister, Sung Jin-ah.
In her early 20s, Choi Myeong-bin already has a busy career behind her. She made her debut in 2016 in the film «Queen of Walking» before appearing in «The Vanished,» «Waiting for Rain,» «My First Client,» and «Sua’s Home,» among others.
As for dramas, she has appeared in «Young Lady and Gentleman,» «The King’s Affection,» «Twenty-Five, Twenty-One,» and, more recently, « Our Sticky Love ".
Many actors are still in talks for «Solo Leveling»
While Byeon Woo-seok remains, for now, the only officially announced lead actor among the names mentioned in this latest update, several stars have been linked to the project.
Han So-hee is under discussion to play Cha Hae-in, while Kang You-seok Yoo Jin-ho could play the role. Kang Mina, Rain, Lee Sung-min, Lee Hong-nae, Sung Joon, and Kim Si-ah have also been mentioned for various roles. However, their participation should not be considered confirmed at this stage.
The project is thus gradually taking shape around Byeon Woo-seok, but this string of casting announcements still requires several official confirmations.
According to Choi Myeong-bin, her agency deliberately chose to immediately downplay the reports published in the press. The possibility of her teaming up with Byeon Woo-seok as a brother-sister duo therefore remains open, but has not yet been confirmed.
No release date has been set for the live-action adaptation of «Solo Leveling» has not yet been announced.
