Biography

Lee Hee-jun (Lee Hee-joon), born on June 29, 1979, in Daegu, is a South Korean actor. Originally a chemical engineering student at Yeungnam University, he discovered theater after a car accident that changed the course of his life. He joined a theater troupe in Daegu before dropping out of school to devote himself fully to acting. He then enrolled at the Korea National University of Arts, where he studied theater.

He made his stage debut in the late 1990s and spent several years gaining solid experience in theater. At the same time, he began appearing in small roles in films, notably in Secret Sunshine, The Unjust, The Yellow Sea and Heartbeat. On television, several episodes of KBS Drama Special These achievements helped him gain recognition in the early 2010s.

Its popularity surged in 2012 with My Husband Got a Family, in which he played Cheon Jae-yong. This performance earned him, among other honors, the Best New Actor in Television award at the 2013 Baeksang Arts Awards. He then went on to play major roles in Jeon Woo Chi, The Queen of the Office and Yoo Na's Street. In 2016, he played Jo Nam-doo in The Legend of the Blue Sea.

In film, he simultaneously built a particularly successful career with Haemoo, 1987: When the Day Comes, Miss Baek, The Drug King and The Man Standing Next. In 2024, he appeared in several major productions, including Badland Hunters, in which he plays Yang Gi-su, Handsome Guys, playing the role of Park Sang-goo, and Bogotá: City of the Lost.

On television, he returned to the spotlight in 2021 with the role of Ko Moo-chi in Mouse, and then Lee Joong-yeop stars in Chimera. In 2024, he plays leading roles in A Killer Paradox, in which he plays Song Chon, and Blood Free, in Seon U-jae's work.

Announcements

In 2025, he makes a brief appearance in Love Scout and Nine Puzzle, and plays one of the leading roles in Karma. In 2026, he plays Kang Jun, also known as Mr. S, in Perfect Job, then Cha Si-young in The Scarecrow (The Scarecrow). He has also appeared in the following films: The Table: Day and Night.

Among the projects it has announced are Speaking Dead, in which he will play the role of prosecutor Kang Yeong-il, and Koreans, in which he is set to play the lead role of Cha Gi-seok; both are scheduled for 2027. He is also attached to the second season of Moving as well as to When the Day Breaks.
