Jo Han-chul (조한철) is a South Korean actor born on June 13, 1973, in Seoul. He developed a passion for theater at an early age and studied the field at Cheongju University and then at the Korea National University of Arts, where he earned a master’s degree.
He made his stage debut in 1998 in the play One Room, before appearing in the movie Peppermint Candy. For several years, he alternated between theater, musicals, films, and supporting roles on television. Notably, he appeared in IRIS, Healer, The Producers and Mother.
His fame grew with 100 Days, My Prince, in which he plays the king, and then with Romance Is a Bonus Book and Kingdom: Season 2. In 2021, he made a particularly strong impression in two popular dramas: Vincenzo, playing the role of Han Seung-hyeok, and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha, in which he plays Oh Chun-jae.
He continues by saying Jirisan, The Sound of Magic, Love All Play, Weak Hero Class 1 and Reborn Rich. In 2023, he starred in Stealer: The Treasure Keeper, The Matchmakers and Gyeongseong Creature. He then continues with Love Next Door, Mr. Plankton and several productions in 2025, including Mercy for None, Spring of Youth and My Youth.
In 2026, Jo Han-chul appears in Boyfriend on Demand and The Boy in the Back Row. With a career spanning several decades, he has become a a character actor who is a regular in K-dramas, capable of excelling in comedy, thrillers, historical dramas, and romance.
