Jin Kyung (진경), born on March 27, 1972, in Masan, is a South Korean actress known for the diversity of her supporting roles, which are often central to the plots of K-dramas. A graduate of the Korea National University of Arts, she made her theater debut in 1998 and devoted herself to the stage for nearly a decade before expanding her career into film and television.
Starting in the 2010s, Jin Kyung appeared in a growing number of dramas and distinguished herself through her ability to portray maternal figures as well as authoritative or ambiguous women. She appeared notably in The Innocent Man, Good Doctor and It’s Okay, That’s Love. In 2014, her role as Song Cha-ok, a cold and ambitious journalist in Pinocchio, allows him to make a particularly strong impression on the audience.
She then went on to appear in several popular productions such as Blood, Oh My Venus and Uncontrollably Fond. In 2016, she took on the role of Oh Myung-sim, the head nurse at Doldam Hospital, for the first time in Dr. Romantic. She reprised the role in Seasons 2 and 3, becoming one of the franchise's most recognizable faces. Her performance in the second season earned her the Best Supporting Actress award at the SBS Drama Awards.
Jin Kyung continues with Melancholia, and will be featured in another international exhibition in 2022 thanks to Extraordinary Attorney Woo. In it, she plays Tae Soo-mi, a brilliant lawyer whose past is closely tied to Woo Young-woo. She goes on to star in Love in a Contract, Queenmaker, Black Knight, My Lovely Liar and The Story of Park's Marriage Contract.
She has also been very active in film, appearing in Cold Eyes, Veteran, Assassination, Master's Degree or even Yaksha: Ruthless Operations. His performance in Cold Eyes This, among other things, earned her the Baeksang Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film in 2014. She has continued her career in TV dramas with, among others, My Youth, Spring Fever and Notes from the Last Row.
