The story follows Heo Mun-oh (played by Choi Min Sik), a once renowned writer turned professor of Korean literature after failing to publish a new book for over 20 years. Just when he seems to have lost his inspiration for good, his life changes when he discovers the exceptional talent of Lee Kang (Choi Hyun Wook), a discreet student who always sits in the last row of his lecture hall.

I was really looking forward to this one to see Choi Hyun-wook in a darker role—I’d recently seen him as a ray of sunshine in *Twinkling Watermelon*, which I really liked. (Although it was filmed after I’d already seen him in *D.P.*—just one or two episodes, though.).
Not surprisingly, I loved him in this role, too!
I liked the originality of the storytelling and how it makes you feel manipulated within an unsettling—even unhealthy—atmosphere at times. The story itself didn’t really grab me, and I didn’t really connect with the various characters (aside from my attachment to the actors).
So, there were just enough episodes for me to appreciate the premise and for it to have an effect on me; any more episodes might have bored me, but this was just right 🙂
