Biography

Born on December 27, 1988, in Seoul, Ok Taec-yeon—better known as Taecyeon—is a South Korean singer, rapper, and actor. After rising to fame as a member of the famous K-pop group 2PM in 2008, he has gradually established himself as an actor capable of transitioning from romance to thriller genres with a strong on-screen presence.

After living for several years in the United States, near Boston, Taecyeon returned to South Korea to continue his studies. A polyglot, he speaks Korean, English, and Japanese. Alongside his music career with 2PM, he made his acting debut in 2010 in Cinderella's Sister, before gaining popularity with the cult classic drama Dream High (2011), alongside Suzy and Kim Soo-hyun.

He then cemented his place in the world of K-dramas with several leading roles: Who Are You? (2013), Wonderful Days (2014), Bring It On, Ghost (2016), in which he blends romance and the supernatural, followed by the intense thriller Save Me (2017).

After completing his military service, he returned with The Game: Towards Zero (2020), but it is above all his role in Vincenzo (2021), which marked a turning point. His surprising portrayal of Jang Jun-woo / Jang Han-seok—a character who is as charming as he is unsettling—revealed a new side to his acting and captivated international audiences on Netflix.

He continues with historical comedy Secret Royal Inspector & Joy (2021), the thriller Blind (2022), and then explores new styles once again with Heartbeat (2023), The First Night with the Duke (2025) or even boys' love Soul Mate (2026). In 2026, Taecyeon continues to alternate between music, film, and TV dramas, confirming his successful transition from K-pop idol to acclaimed Hallyu actor.
