Scarecrow will tell the story of a man forced to join forces with his worst enemy to track down a serial killer. The plot stretches from 1988 to 2019, tracing 33 years of secrets, revenge and personal quests. Inspired by the real-life case of serial killer Lee Chun-jae, the drama will explore not only the hunt for the murderer, but also the shattered lives of those who lived alongside him or suffered his crimes.

The Characters

This thriller follows Kang Tae-joo, a talented detective forced to collaborate with a man he deeply hates, as he investigates a series of murders. The story spans several decades, from 1988 to 2019, exploring a relationship marked by hatred and the wounds of the past.

Kang Tae-joo, a traumatized former student, finds in Cha Si-young not only an influential prosecutor, but also the man who harassed him relentlessly during his school years. The painful memories have never gone away, fueling an anger that remains intact despite the years.

Kwak Sun-young plays Seo Ji-won, a reporter for the Gangseong Daily and a former classmate of Kang Tae-joo, portrayed by Park Hae-soo. Driven by a strong sense of duty, she is convinced that the truth must be revealed at all costs. She closely monitors the police’s actions while following the progress of the investigation into the serial murders.

Despite her unassuming figure, her character should establish herself as a strong presence, both as a journalist of integrity and as a loyal friend, deeply concerned by Kang Tae-joo's fate.
