Nam Joo-hyuk (남주혁), born on February 22, 1994, in Busan, is a South Korean actor and model. Before turning to show business, he dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player, but an injury put an end to that ambition. He began his modeling career in 2013 before launching his acting career in the drama Surplus Princess in 2014.
His fame is growing rapidly with Who Are You: School 2015, in which he plays Han Yi-an. In 2016, he appeared in several major productions: Cheese in the Trap, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, in which he plays Prince Wang Baek-ah, and then, most notably, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo. His portrayal of swimmer Jung Joon-hyung in this college romantic comedy became one of his most popular roles and earned him the Best New Actor award at the MBC Drama Awards.
He goes on to play the lead role in The Bride of Habaek in 2017, and then made her major film debut in The Great Battle in 2018. His performance as Sa-mul earned him several awards for Best New Actor, including at the Blue Dragon Film Awards.
In 2019, he displayed a more dramatic side in The Light in Your Eyes. The following year, he appeared in The School Nurse Files and then becomes Nam Do-san, a young entrepreneur and developer, in Start-Up. He also stars alongside Han Ji-min in the film Josée.
In 2022, he achieved one of the greatest successes of his career with Twenty-Five Twenty-One. In it, he plays Baek Yi-jin, a young man affected by the Asian financial crisis who is trying to rebuild his life. He also stars in the film Remember.
Nam Joo-hyuk then radically changes his image with Vigilante in 2023. He plays Kim Ji-yong, a police academy student by day and an underground vigilante by night.
After completing his military service between March 2023 and September 2024, he resumed his career. In 2026, he played the lead role of Gu Cheon in The Eastern Palace. His announced projects also include Code and Heartbeat, scheduled for 2027.
