Namkoong Min (Namgoong Min), born on March 12, 1978, in Seoul, is a South Korean actor, director, and screenwriter. After earning a degree in mechanical engineering from Chung-Ang University, he began his acting career in the late 1990s before appearing in films such as Bungee Jumping on Their Own then Bad Guy.
He began to make a name for himself on television with My Lovely Family in 2004, before gaining further attention thanks to the film noir A Dirty Carnival in 2006. After completing his military service, he returned to television and made a name for himself, notably in Listen to My Heart in 2011.
His career took on a new dimension when he began playing dark characters in The Girl Who Sees Scents and above all Remember: War of the Son. He then shows a more comedic side with Beautiful Gong Shim, and then enjoyed great success in 2017 in Good Manager, where his portrayal of Kim Sung-ryong helped boost his popularity.
He has played one leading role after another in Distorted, Doctor Prisoner and Hot Stove League. This role earned him his first Grand Prize (Daesang) at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards. He cemented his status with The Veil in 2021, for which he received another Daesang, and then played the eccentric lawyer Chun Ji-hoon in One Dollar Lawyer in 2022.
In 2023, his role as Lee Jang-hyeon in the historical epic My Dearest It is one of the major successes of his career and earned him a third Daesang.
He's coming back in 2025 with Our Movie, playing the role of director Lee Je-ha, and briefly reprises his role as One Dollar Lawyer in Dynamite Kiss. In 2026, he played the lead role of Kang Tae-ju in the thriller The Husband.
On the personal front, Namkoong Min married model Jin Ah-reum in 2022. The couple welcomed their first child, a boy, in July 2026.
