October 2026 is shaping up to be a particularly busy month for K-drama fans. And amid the many new releases scheduled for the month (as usual, we’re putting together a roundup article at the end of the month on where and when to watch these new shows), some posters inevitably feel a bit like a reunion. Kim So-hyun, Kim Ji-won, Kim Yoo-jung, Chae Soo-bin or even Nam Ji-hyun : Several actresses we’ve been following for years are back with highly anticipated new projects. Kim So-hyun kicks things off with «Between Steps»
As of October 5, Kim So-hyun will make her return in «Between Steps»alongside Choo Young-woo, on Disney+.
In the film, the actress plays Im Yoo-jin, a young woman whose plans for the future are turned upside down by an unexpected event and who eventually finds a new path in robotics. There, she meets Park Min-jae, a former swimmer who also had to give up the life he had imagined after losing a leg to an illness.
A romance about two characters forced to rebuild their lives, directed by the late Ahn Pan-seok. The last time we saw Kim So-hyun on screen was in 2025 in « Good Boy »Starring Park Bo-gum, this new role will therefore be quite different from his previous one, which focused more on action than romance.".
Kim Ji-won takes on a completely different role in «Doctor X»
This is probably one of the most anticipated comebacks of the month. After wowing audiences in « Queen of Tears », Kim Ji-won returns on October 9 with a very different character in «Doctor X» on Netflix.
It becomes Gye Su-jeong, a brilliant surgeon with a mysterious past, sent to a university hospital where she will confront the excesses of a corrupt medical system. Forget Hong Hae-in: this time, Kim Ji-won is picking up the scalpel.
Chae Soo-bin Returns to Romance… with a Spark
On the same day, October 9, Netflix will launch «Take Charge of My Heart»supported by Chae Soo-bin and Kim Young-kwang.
In the series, Chae Soo-bin plays Na Bo-bae, a screenwriter who, ever since she was struck by lightning as a child, has literally been living with electricity coursing through her body. A rather awkward problem when you fall in love… until she meets an heir with an artificial heart that she could actually «recharge.».
Kim Yoo-jung Plays a Spy in «100 Days of Deception»
Visit October 10 Also on Netflix, a complete change of pace with the return of Kim Yoo-jung. In «100 Days of Deception», the actress takes on the role of Lee Ga-gyeong, the best pickpocket in Gyeongseong during the Japanese occupation.
Recruited as a spy, she must infiltrate the Japanese General Government of Korea under a false identity. A historical thriller that will reunite her with Park Jin-young, among others.
Nam Ji-hyun promises to thrill us
Finally, Nam Ji-hyun will be back on October 15 in a rom-com with a much more unexpected premise: «Make Me Tingle» (No international broadcaster has been announced yet.).
Her character, Gong Yeon-su, grew up with very strict beliefs about love and relationships. Suffice it to say that her arrival in the world of… a sex toy company is likely to shake up a few of her certainties. Opposite her, Kim Jae-young plays a cynical boss who’s convinced that love is nothing more than a «hormonal illusion.».
A blend of romance, medical thriller, historical espionage, and romantic comedy, The queens of K-dramas are clearly not coming back in October just to play it safe.
